Gyotaku Fish Prints
Gyotaku is the traditional method of Japanese fish printing ,dating from the mid-1800’s. This form of printing was used for fishermen to record their catches. Prints would be made on silk and various papers, Al uses traditional papers made from the Mulberry bush. Al has been doing Fish Prints since 1994. Always carrying a roll of paper and a tube of ink where ever he travels in search of fish.
Please note: The color of the papers Al uses varies from bright white to a cream color with small imperfections of Mulberry fibers.
